Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Private Comic Library is an open-source Android app developed by an individual developer (fancydirty). There is no company, no user database and no backend service behind it. Contact: fancydirty@gmail.com.

2. What the app stores, and where

Everything the app knows is stored on your device, in the app's private storage: your comics and their pages, reading progress, catalog and folder settings, and — if you connect cloud storage — the credentials or sign-in tokens for it and your library key. Uninstalling the app deletes all of this. We never see any of it.

3. Catalogs and sources you enable

Sources are off by default. When you enable one (for example an OPDS server, or a public gallery site), the app talks to it directly from your device; that service receives your device's requests (including its IP address) under its own terms. Requests never pass through us.

4. Optional cloud library (storage you own)

You may connect an S3-compatible bucket (for example Cloudflare R2), a WebDAV server, OneDrive (personal accounts; the app's own folder) or Google Drive.

• What is uploaded: the comics you keep (pages packed into files, thumbnails), their metadata (title, tags, page count), reading progress and the state of your library.
• Encryption: libraries on WebDAV, OneDrive and Google Drive are always encrypted on your device (AES-GCM) with a key protected by a password only you know. We cannot recover the password; if it is lost, nobody can read that library.
• Credentials and tokens are stored only on your device and sent only to the storage provider you chose. Disconnecting deletes them from the device.
• Your storage provider (Google, Microsoft, Cloudflare, your WebDAV host) processes the data under its own terms.

4a. Google Drive

The app requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file scope (plus openid and email to show which account is connected). drive.file only lets the app see and manage the "Private Comic Library" folder and the files the app itself creates. It cannot read, list or change any other file in your Drive.

• Google user data received through these scopes (the contents and metadata of the app's own folder, your email address, and the OAuth tokens) is used only to store and read your own library for you, on your device.
• It is not shared with anyone, not sold, not used for advertising or profiling, and never sent to any server of ours — there is none. No human reads it.
• Tokens are deleted from the device when you disconnect Google Drive in the app. You can revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To delete the synced data, delete the "Private Comic Library" folder in your Drive.

Private Comic Library's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4b. OneDrive

The app requests Files.ReadWrite.AppFolder, User.Read (to show the connected account) and offline_access. It can only access its own folder under "Apps" in your OneDrive. Tokens are deleted when you disconnect; you can revoke access at account.microsoft.com/privacy/app-access.

5. Permissions

Internet and network state (to reach the sources and storage you choose), notifications and a data-sync foreground service (to show and finish downloads and uploads), and an optional battery-optimization exemption for long transfers. Folders are read only after you pick them with the system picker.

6. Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country).

7. Changes

If the app's data handling changes, this page changes with it and the date above is updated.
